Dr Upma Bhasin
I started my journey as a general dentist after graduating with Bachelor of Dentistry in
1991 from India. After practicing in India for 11 years, I migrated to NZ with my young family in 2003 after being mesmerized by the beauty of the country. I completed my NZDREX registration in 2005 and have practiced in New Zealand for the past 14 years.
Pursuing my passion for the dentistry, over the years I have continually updated and expanded my pool of dental skills with ongoing training and professional development courses. Dentistry has seen a lot of growth and there have been huge advancements in technology and innovation in the dental field. I have always promoted and supported the use of latest techniques, devices and equipment to be able to offer my patients with the best treatments available today.
I have had extensive training in Endodontics, cosmetic dentistry, CAD CAM dentistry & have added Implant dentistry to my list of skills recently.
I love my work and my family – they are what makes me happy. I love to take up new challenges. If my positive attitude and my skills as a dentist can put a smile on your face, it would please me more that any words can say.

I graduated with Bachelor of Oral Health from University of Otago. I originally come from China but I decided to settle down after graduation as I had been attracted by the gorgeous natures and peaceful environment in New Zealand.
Before I came to this lovely clinic I used to work for Waikato and Hutt Valley DHB where I gained a lot of clinical experience. Now my priority work is helping my patients to gain latest knowledge to maintain their own oral health at home to prevent periodontal disease and decay. During my appointments you may find I often spend lots of time on education and demonstrations on oral health knowledge. In my opinion, prevention is always better than treatments.
In my leisure time I spend a lot of time to find and taste creative food and I also have passion on cooking. Playing tennis and fishing also are my favourite activities at the
I graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health from the University of Otago in 2014. Prior to starting at 32 Gems Dental Care in 2016, I busied myself by gaining experience in both the public and private sector, as a Dental Therapist and Dental Hygienist.
My passion is in Health Promotion, and since 2011 I have been a volunteer for a variety of community-based health initiatives. I strongly believe that the foundation for healthy teeth and gums is good oral health education, and I am more than happy to share my knowledge with patients.
As someone who personally suffers from dental sensitivity, I pride myself on my ability to provide effective yet gentle treatment. The heart of my care planning lies in ensuring that my patients have a sound understanding of their oral condition, as well as the preventive and treatment options available.
I joined the dental industry fresh out of school at the age of 17, and now a few (20+) years later i am part of an awesome working enviroment and a wonderful team here at 32 Gems Dental Care.
It has been wonderful watching the practice grow over the last nine years and being able to learn all the new technology, this has kept me up to date with the latest administration side of dentistry as well as with all the new procedures our team performs in the surgery . Outside of this dental family, my husband and I have made our own blended team at home. I am mum and Step-mom to 4 children and a small zoo of animals.
